Friday the Thirteenth – The ultimate prank?

Today is Friday the 13th.  The day when, if you’re a superstitious little bitch (me), everything that can go wrong will go wrong.  Typically not a date associated with pranks, gag gifts, or poking fun this date of remembrance has a bad rap.  To an outsider, Friday the 13th is just another day.  Heck, it’s probably a good day because Friday’s mean it’s only a few hours until the week.  However, an entire culture has been formed around this ominous date.  Partly because the number thirteen just happens to be an “unlucky” number.  Partly because capatilistic pigs just wanted to cash in on another meaningless date in the hope of emptying our pockets as we search for meaning in the meaningless that is our bleak exis…*ahem*….Friday the 13th is the most famous because of Jason Voorhees .

We here at Dick At Your Door would like to submit another narrative.  We believe Friday the 13th is one of the all time greatest long con pranks ever pulled.  What’s better than convincing millions of people around the world that a specific date is unlucky?  Not too much in our humble opinion.  Here’s a look at some of the effects this date, which is essentially just another Friday, has had on American Culture.
